The album contains 39 color and black and white reproductions of decorative household items by leading Paleshan artists of that time: P.D. Bazhenova, I.M. Bakanova, G.K. Bureeva, D.N. Butorina, I.P. Vakurova, A.I. Vatagina, I.I. Golikova, A.I. Zaitseva, N.M. Zinovieva, T.I. Zubkova, A.A. Kotukhina, G.M. Melnikova, N.A. Pravdina, I.A. Chelysheva and others. Palekh miniature is a folk art craft that developed in the village of Palekh. The lacquer miniature is made with tempera on papier-mâché. Usually boxes, caskets, little capsules, brooches, paintings, ashtrays, tie pins, pincushions, etc. are painted. Typical subjects of Palekh miniatures are borrowed from everyday life, literary works of the classics, fairy tales, epics and songs. A number of compositions are based on the traditions of classical art. The work is usually done with tempera paints on a black background and painted in gold.
